On behalf of the American Heart Association, we are excited to be hosting the seventh annual Go Red For Women event. This event is a national campaign to increase awareness of heart disease. Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American Women.
Our goal for the event this year is to inspire women to become educated on the effects of heart disease and inspire women to take charge of their heart health. Knowing your personal risk of heart disease is the first powerful, lifesaving step to a healthy life – no matter your age.
The dollars raised through this event go towards research and for every $1 raised, $1.68 comes back to the University of Nebraska Lincoln for cardiovascular research projects. Over the past several years, millions of dollars have gone to UNL, UNMC and UNO for research.
